Devotion from Ruth for June 30 - Ruth 1:16

Verse for June 30: "And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God." - Ruth 1:16 (KJV)

Devotion:

The book of Ruth tells a beautiful story of loyalty, commitment, and faithfulness. Ruth, a Moabite woman, chose to stay with her mother-in-law Naomi after the death of her husband. In the verse for today, Ruth expresses her deep devotion and loyalty to Naomi, declaring her determination to accompany her wherever she goes.

Ruth's words reflect her steadfastness and dedication to Naomi. She pleads with Naomi not to ask her to leave or go back to her own people. Instead, Ruth makes a profound commitment to be by Naomi's side, sharing in her journey, dwelling where she dwells, and embracing her people as her own.
